VA-Outdoors 2013 Frog Only Tournament

Lee and I won the VA-Outdoors "FROG ONLY" tournament yesterday on the Potomac with a 3 fish limit....14.60 lbs and 6.85 big fish. Nice day compared to day before. Thank you weather men. ALL fish caught on Spro frogs in Aquia Creek on Potomac River. Another great day to remember with my son and net man. HA

Both mine and Lee's birthday's were this past weekend.....so we did what we love best....went fishing of course. Had a great time at Lake Anna. Put 16 lbs 4 oz. on the scales at Anna Point Marina by Noon and off the water before the summer crowds hit the water. An enjoyable day.

Fishin has been OFF for a while now on the Potomac.

Lee and I have been out on the Potomac (staying mostly in the Aquia area), a total of seven times since early May. The bite has been WAY off. Last year, it was taking at least 20 lbs to win a tournament. This year, it takes only 16 lbs. A lot of speculation about what is happening...so who knows. Anyway, here are a couple of fish from the last time out. My biggest so far this spring....a 5.5 lb. fish. Also, cudos to my buddy, Dutch Baldwin, for his recent Bowfishing kills on snakeheads (54 in one night). The river is overrun with them presently.

Lee and I fished the VA-Outdoors.com "Ironman" tournament on the Potomac this past Saturday. A true event not for the faint of heart, it began at 6AM and weigh-in was at 12:30PM for first session and 8PM for the second session. We did OK by getting the last money spot for 6th place. Tough fishing on the river right now with weights way down. I see the river in decline and hope it straightens out soon.

Summer 2012 and PB's

This summer has been good to Lee and I on the Potomac River. We have won a couple of tournaments, placed 2nd & 3rd in a couple, and placed in & just out of the money in a few. All in all a very enjoyable season. However, my best outting thus far, has been last Friday when Lee caught his Personal Best Bass and Snakehead. The bass weighed 7.65 lbs which helped us win the VA-Outdoors Weekday Series for a total of 17.55 lbs. The snakehead weighed in at a whopping 15.04 lbs for another personal best. Of course, my job was to net them, but Ohhhh!!! what a memory.

VAO Ironman Tournnament

VA Outdoors held their Ironman Tournament on June 2nd and it was a very LONG day. We launched at Hope Springs Marina at first light and weighed in 13.5 lbs. for the
1st round at 12:30PM. Took a short break and went back out until 8PM. We didn't fair as well on the 2nd round with around 7 lbs. Lee did catch his biggest snakehead on the river so far though. 11.02 lbs. We had a blast and looking forward to the next one.

VAO Weekend Series 3-16-12

Lee and I had one of our better days yesterday on Lake Anna. Came in first place at the Weekday Series. 18.70 lbs total weight and Big Fish was 5.95 lbs. Fishing is red hot right now.

LKA....3-10-12 Pre-fish

Lee and I pre-fished on Saturday for the upcoming Fishers of Men Tournament. We didn't catch many. We really were just checking out new water, temps, etc. Lee did have another Lake Anna beast however. A 6 lb. 5 oz. beauty.

2011 review

2011 was another great year for "Team Dirt". While Lee and I finished in the money a little more often last year, I enjoyed his company as well as many others more than anything while fishing. Hunting season was average, but I did get out more this year. Some highlights at the end of 2011 are below. Looking forward to tight lines & brown down in 2012. Good huntin and fishin to ya.

VAO Forum Supporters TX

Fished the VAO Forum Supporters Tournament this past Saturday and my partner (Jim Sutton) and I came in second in both the 1st and 2nd rounds. My son, Lee fished solo in the 1st round and won that with 11+ lbs and a 4.75 lbs beauty (big fish for the day). Lake Anna is fishing very tough right now. It was not about the fishing that day necessarily, but the friendship and commrodery that went with it.

Labor Day Froggin

Lee and I went out yesterday on the Potomac and caught all but two fish on popping and buzz frogs. They are really munching right now....so get out if you can.

Hunting season nears

Lee and I have not been fishing to many tournaments this year. The one's we have fished on the river have been good to us. A first place, a second and a third......all in the money. Great fishing on the Potomac right now if you can get out.....GO!
